Brasserie Lipp, 1969 Paris by Henri Cartier-Bresson
One of my design professors gave me some advice on a skirt design. She told me to either make it end above the knee, or below the knee. Never on it, because right on it is the safe spot.
The job wasn’t to reinvent the skirt entirely, but to push the scale of it just enough to make it fresh.
Scale.
It’s all about scale.
If you are working on something right now that doesn’t feel right, change the scale of something. You’d be surprised how this becomes the solution to many roadblocks.
